My formative community organising experience came through involvement in the grassroots collective Rising Tide, where we involved the local community in Newcastle, the Hunter, and beyond, in coal and climate change campaigning and non-violent direct action. Later I spent five months living at the Walmadan (James Price Point) blockade camp and working with Goolarabooloo, Broome locals, and visitors, to run the camp and engage in nonviolent direct action.
