Bronwyn Opie

I grew up in Canada and moved to Australia in 2014, where I fell in love with the environment in tropical Far North Queensland. I now work at the Cairns and Far North Environment Centre (CAFNEC) as a Community Campaigner on climate and water. I recently moved to Muluridji Country in the Atherton Tablelands, and I’ve been enjoying the endless trails and waterfalls in this new home.

I am passionate about advocating for systems change to address the injustices of climate change, and finding sustainable solutions to support community needs without sacrificing our irreplaceable ecosystems. I am driven by the incredible community members that make my work possible, and I’m keen to develop my skills to be a more effective organiser for them.
